New AMAZING REVIEW

Stuck DVD based study by Jennie Allen
WOW!!!!
An inspiring look at the issues surrounding women (and men but this DVD study  is focused toward women) every day and confronting sin in the way we react to daily situations.  A very real, very honest, heart inspiring, thought provoking presentation of how we get stuck in sinful places which prevent God from touching and healing those very places.
Jennie looks at this sin in a raw 7 lesson format, dealing with our brokenness, anger, discontentment, fear, being overwhelmed, being sad and finally how to get “unstuck”.
The cinematic presentation is clean and captures Jennie’s heart for this bible study.   The message is clear, well presented and on its own inspires deep thought on each lesson.  The associated bible study enlarges the thought process and encourages deeper spiritual searching.  Jennie delves into the scriptures and her enthusiasm for God’s word is insightful and frankly contagious!
The pack includes a leader guide for group study and great conversation cards help to facilitate group discussions and individual treasure seeking in God’s Word.
I absolutely loved reviewing this study and can’t wait to really sink my teeth into it in a real and meaningful way with a group of girls.

Gabby – God’s Little Angel by Sheila Walsh, Illustrated by Marina Fedotova

This book is so beautifully illustrated!  Clearly targeted at young girls, my little 6 year old princess took to this book and so loved looking at the beautiful illustrations.  The story is of God’s little guardian angel Gabby who the Lord chooses to protect a rather accident prone little girl.  This is quite amusing because Gabby is almost just as accident prone as her charge.  It’s a lovely book and incorporates scripture into the reading to provide references  for discussion with older children.  I recommend this as a book for a special little girl aged between the ages of 3 – 8.

The Expanded Bible – Thomas Nelson Inc. Signature series

This is a study bible that expands the Word of God by allowing the reader to see the various possibilities for words or phrases  contained in the bible and also various interpretations.  I have always found the teachings of “root” words very interesting and it has always been something I’ve concerned about regarding translations of the original biblical text and meanings being lost along the way.  I am sure this is a Bible that I will use regularly with bible study and whilst the Publisher states that no Bible translation is always 100% accurate, this expanded version provides great insight into the Word of God.

I really do think that this is a great version (based on the  New Century Version) and the expanded/alternate text provides the seeker with a veritable treasure of understanding.  The bible is easy to use and as this version that I have is an E Book format, I would love to have the printed version as a keepsake.  This is a great tool for new believers and would be a fantastic gift for any believer.  The layout is great and the type face is legible and clear.

Heaven is for Real for Kids by as told by Colton Burpo to his parents, Todd and Sonja Burpo. Illustrated by Wilson Ong

Colton Burpo got sick and went to Jesus where he experienced Heaven for Real!  This is a great book to share with children.  The illustrations are lovely and the scripture describing heaven as it is and as Todd experienced is very beautiful.  My children will love this book and I am sure we’ll be reading it for the next few days... over and over again!

The book is informative, contains much scripture and is a pleasure to read with young children to acquaint them with visions of heaven.  There is also a great question section at the back of the book which encourages children to ask questions about heaven – great for going back to God’s word and discussing with kids.  A must read!

The only problem that I had with this Ebook is that God’s name is represented with a lower case key in many places and well... that just doesn’t sit to well with me.  Hope the publishers change that for print.

No Wonder they call Him Saviour by Max Lucado

This is my second book review by this author and he is fast becoming one of my favourites!  This book was an eye opening, thought provoking, gut wrenching delivery of the moment when mankind and God’s Grace collided.  It centres around Jesus, the meaning of the cross and the characters that were an integral part to God’s plan at this pivotal moment in time.

Max Lucado, ever entertaining, clearly delivers our Saviour, the cross and draws very challenging parallels between us and  the characters of the people involved in the biblical accounts of Jesus’ sacrifice – both good and bad.  This book is based on biblical truth and is a must read for anybody seeking to discover Jesus and how ultimately God’s Grace won out against the plans of Satan – forever!

New Review!! - When God Whispers Your Name by Max Lucado

Packed with many spiritual insights, Max Lucado delivers the message that God not only knows your name but he calls you by that name.  Drawing parallels between biblical characters and contemporary “ordinary” people, he manages to portray that God still is very much in control today as he was thousands of years ago.  A very amusing and insightful book which I couldn’t put down and finished in just over an afternoon. A good, uplifting read.

Max is a great teacher, having written many books, he provides many insights that get you thinking that maybe our (at least in my case) view of God and his purpose for life might be a little off.  I found the book so interesting that I couldn’t put it down and managed to finish it in an afternoon.  Max thoroughly challenged some of my ideas about how the Lord relates to people in this day and age – at a time in my life when I am in desperate need of enlightenment and a changed sense of purpose, this book managed to get me on the right track.  The discussion guide at the back of the book provides much food for thought and I’ll be working through this study for the next few weeks.  I believe that this book offers much in the way of Biblical truth whilst encouraging you to discover God’s Word for yourself.  I highly recommend this book to anybody.

The Review .... finally

Night Night Blessings by Amy Parker, Illustrated by Marijan Ramljak

A lovely children’s book with great content for young children and beautiful illustrations that remind us to take the time to say “Thank You” to the Lord, daily for the blessings that we think of and those that we don’t.

A short book aimed at very young children but great for mom’s and dad’s to remind themselves to be thankful for each small and big blessing given each day.  My four year old and and 6 year old both enjoyed the reading and stopping to think about the things that many of us take for granted each day – “from early morning to night night” the book describes the various activities in the child’s day and all the things to be thankful for.

Book Sneeze - first book review

I chose something that I can do with the kids tonight - it's called Night Night Blessings and is a very sweet book about Thanking the Lord for all our blessings - Big and small - Very important I believe to instill in children a sense of gratitude for all blessings - seen and unseen.  Looking forward to seeing their reactions as we read the book together.

Welcome

Hey,
I'm fast reaching an age where I feel I should have learned at least some valuable lessons in this thing we call life.

I grew up tough - in a childrens home from the age of four years old, trying in my own unaware of life way to look out for myself and my little brother.  I wondered through life aimlessly right into my twenties, trying this and that for "my space" and never achieving much in the way of major success anywhere, even though in all aspects of my life, I am a pretty hard working girl.

Anyway, Jesus has always been a part of my life in a very small way - my choice - I don't think I ever understood the value of a real relationship with Jesus Christ and it is only now in the last five months that I have really started seeking the Lord for His will in my life.

The ride has been interesting and I'd be lying if I didn't admit how scared I have been - having learned early in life that I needed to control every one of my situations - giving over to the Lord has not been easy.  Right now I am in the middle of something with God which I can't share right now but when the Lord reveals this plan that he is giving me the tiniest taste of... I'll keep you ... posted!

Have a Blessed, Christ Filled day
